Pratt & Whitney Invests $380M Into Engines

On February 16 2017, there as an article published on Aerospace Technology that talks about how Pratt & Whitney, the United Technologies subsidiary, is planning to invest over $380m into aircraft engines at the production facility which is located in Columbus, Georgia in the U.S.

This $380m will be used to increase the production of parts and maintenance services as well as working on research and development in order to cut the costs of existing Pratt & Whitney Engines and well as new engines.

Along with the influx of new parts and maintenance, they will build a 200,000 square foot facility that will be used to overhaul Geared Turbofan Engines.

Here is what Chris Calio, the commercial engines president of Pratt & Whitney has to say about the facility.

“We're investing heavily in our Columbus facility to support the increased production and services planned for our F135 and GTF engines. This investment will help ensure that we have the appropriate infrastructure, tooling and trained workforce in place to provide the best products and services to our customers worldwide. The tremendous support we receive from the community and state have contributed to our success in Georgia.”

Pratt & Whitney also have plants in Connecticut, Texas, Florida, West Virginia, and Maine.
